Carter Family Traditional Music Festival

Music festival held the first weekend in August presented in honor of The Original Carter Family, the first family of country music, and commemorating the historic 1927 Bristol Recording Sessions. Visit the Carter Family Museum in the old general store building and the recently restored original cabin that was the birthplace of A.P. Carter. The 2011 lineup includes Whitewater Bluegrass Company and Whitetop Mountain Band on Friday and the Carolina Chocolate Drops, New Ballards Branch Bogtrotters, Lonesome Will Mullins & Surefire and the Great Smoky Mountain Cloggers on Saturday evening. Lorrie Carter Bennett and Ronnie Williams will appear both evenings.
