Fifty miles of beautiful shoreline consisting of mature hardwood forest interspersed with spectacular rock bluffs surround this deep, clear reservoir. Flannagan Reservoir is home to a variety of sportfish species including: largemouth and smallmouth bass, walleye, hybrid striped bass, channel catfish, flathead catfish, crappie, bluegill, rock bass, common carp and musky. Alewives and gizzard shad provide forage for the sport fish populations. Bicycles are permitted on main roads and campground areas. Launch ramps for boating enthusiasts and fishermen are located at the Spillway Launch Area, Junction Area, and Cranesnest Area. John W. Flannagan Reservoir has three campgrounds. All sites except the Tent Only sites have electrical hook-ups. Camping is available from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
