Towhee Hill Studio is a single artist studio that is open 3-5 Tuesdays and Thursdays or by appointment. Visitors are requested to call ahead in case of emergencies. The studio is mostly comprised of New River Valley oil paintings but there are also paintings of still lifes, figure studies, and beach scenes of Pawley's Island. In addition to original oil paintings, there are hand-painted shells of mountain and beach scenes. Many of the shells are paintings of the New River Valley on shells from the New River. The artist, Kendall F. Kessler is an national and international award-winning painter. Her work has been seen throughout the United States and she has won numerous awards, including awards from Dorothy Gillespie, May Stevens, and Daniel Greene. She was in two group shows on Broadway and is listed in Who's Who in the World.
