Experience America's Scenic Byway and All American Road! The Blue Ridge Parkway is designed for a slow paced and relaxing drive, revealing the natural and cultural history here in the southern mountains. Winter views can be spectacular before spring leaves come on the trees, summer brings family drives and picnics, fall offers brilliant colors as leaves change all over the mountains. The Blue Ridge Parkway provides critical habitat for over 50 threatened and endangered plant species. Ranger-led programs are offered at many locations along the Parkway beginning in late spring. Facilities will begin opening on a staggered basis by mid April and will close the end of October.
