Youth musicians from throughout Southwest Virginia will be featured at the 8th Annual Crooked Road Youth Music Festival on Saturday, May 11th, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Heartwood in Abingdon. Fifteen bands and traditional music programs (ca. 200 youth musicians) will perform throughout the day.
The festival will highlight regional traditional music programs including the Albert Hash Program, the Blue Devil String Band, Bristol Bearcat Bluegrass Band, Floyd JAMS, Galax JAMS, Henderson JAM, Miss Ellie String Band, Montgomery Co. JAMS, Pulaski Co. Community Youth Center JAM, Scott County JAMS, VHCC Old Time String Band, WiseJAMS–Big Stone Gap, and WiseJAMS–Wise.
The annual Youth Music Festival at Heartwood features youth musicians in performances of the heritage music of Southwest Virginia. The festival is family oriented and features outstanding talent from throughout the Southwest Virginia region.
Heartwood: Southwest Virginia’s Artisan Gateway is located off I-81 at Exit 14 in Abingdon, VA, and features food, music, and craft of Southwest Virginia. Admission to the festival is $5.00 for adults, $2.00 for children 6-12, and kids 5 and under are free.
