Home of the author of The Trail of the Lonesome Pine. The John Fox Jr. house is a Virginia Historical Landmark serving as both a museum and a memorial to the author and his family. Fox wrote his best-selling novel about the love story of a mining engineer and a young woman from a mountain family, and the story, adapted as an outdoor drama, is performed every summer in Big Stone Gap. Fox also wrote 14 other novels and over 500 short stories. Guided tours of the house Thursdays through Saturdays.
